A vessel that makes your morning coffee a little special.
The PLATINUM MUG, created by Eri Azuma with platinum processing on her ceramic works, comes in two types: a mug with a handle and a cup without a handle. The charm of ceramics found in their asymmetry and the luster of platinum subtly elevate your everyday drink.
The vessels created by Eri Azuma, who incorporates her own rhythm, physicality, and live feel into her works, embody movement rather than perfect symmetry. They seem to tilt, yet fit securely in your hand. They seem distorted, yet hold liquid perfectly. In these contradictions lies the essence of ceramics.
Her base is Tokoname, Aichi Prefecture, one of Japan's six ancient kilns, a pottery producing region with over a thousand years of history. Eri Azuma's individuality is layered upon the sensibility and technique nurtured by this land.
The luster of platinum further accentuates this undulation. It changes its expression depending on the angle of the light, showing a slightly different face each morning.
No two are exactly alike. This subtle variation is the hallmark of handcrafted work.
